Benjamin Platts attested to the East Yorkshire Regiment on the 3rd September 1914. Aged 32 years and 335 days. His occupation was listed as a labourer. He arrived in France on the 13th July 1915. Originally in B Company attached to 175 Company Royal Engineers 18th August 1915. Transferred to 175 coy Royal Engineers 27th September 1915. Private Benjamin Platts died of wounds on 26th November 1915. Ypres age 33 the 7th Batt were in camp on the 26th November when Pte Platts died, so he must have been wounded earlier. The Battalion went to the front on 7th November and returned to camp on the 12th. We can therefore assume Private Platts had received his wounds during this period of action or bombardment of the camp. Remembered with honour in Maple Copse Cemetery, Leper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Sold with boxes of issue condolence letter, medals on original ribbons.
