Private Charles Gales/Gailes was killed in Action on 31st March 1918, aged 28 East of the village of Bouzincourt whilst attacking German positions during the German offensive. The 7th Battalion war diaries state that between the 21st and 31st of March the casualty list was officers 19 and other ranks 400. An account of the action in which Charles Gales was killed is on page 291 of the East Yorkshires in the Great War by Everard Wyrall. Born in Sunderland January 1891 and commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
