Killed in Action on 11th October 1918 Aged 27 during an attack on Neuvilly the East Yorkshires supplied two patrols. One to lead the Dorset’s and the other to “mop up” the village. The attack was a failure, heavy machine gun fire from well concealed positions and heavy shell fire preventing both patrol from crossing the river and the other from mopping up the village. The East Yorkshires after this returned to Inchy. In these operations the 7th East York`s suffered heavy casualties, 2 officers killed, 4 officers wounded, 22 other ranks killed and 124 wounded. There were also 26 missing and 2 wounded and missing. Enlisted in Bentley. He is remembered with honour on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial. Born in Doncaster.
