Description

Sergeant Major Frederick Charles Sluggett was born c.1828 in St. Charles Parish, Plymouth, and enlisted for service in the H.E.I.C. on 12 September 1846 age of 18. He embarked aboard the ship Kent on 20 April 1847 and was posted to the 1st Madras Fusiliers, with whom he served during the Pegu Campaign. He was listed as Serjeant Major in the muster dated 1 January 1859, and continued duty in Local Service, Madras Presidency, and was listed as serving in the 11th Madras Native Infantry in January 1866. He embarked for England upon discharge on 9 March 1867.

PLEASE NOTE: The Indian Army medal was originally sold as part ‘erased ‘ however I believe its heavy contact marks from the other medal. Mounted on board for display.
