Only Twelve I.G.S. 1895 medals issued to the Middlesex Regiment.
He was born in the Parish of Paddington, Middlesex, and enlisted into the Middlesex Regiment in London on 7 July 1892, aged 18 years 6 months, a car man by trade. He served with the 1st Battalion until 24 February 1895, and then posted to the 2nd Battalion and went to India. He passed the nursing course at Poona on 26 February 1896, and served on the Punjab Frontier with the 23rd British Field Hospital.
He is shown on an individual roll for the 1st Battalion, Middlesex Regiment which also notes ‘Belonged to the Bombay Command at the time the medal was earned’. The Q.S.A. roll for the 2nd Battalion notes ‘Draft from India arrived South Africa 27 February 1902’ and gives clasps as O.F.S. and S.A. 1902.
