For gallantry, skill and great devotion whilst serving in H.M Ships, Formidable, Victorious, Indefinable, Illustrious and Indomitable during the operations performed with the United States Pacific Fleet in the capture of Okinawa and the Nansi Shoto area, over a period from March 26th 1945 to April 20th 1945.

Recommendation for Operation Iceberg. When this ship was hit by a suicide bomber, he proceeded to the position of the explosion to find the extent of the damage in spite of the smoke and steam and started emergency repairs he showed both courage and initiative.
