Description

Edward Freer served with the 7th Batt East Yorkshire Regt. He was sent to France 14th July 1915 where he landed at Boulogne. He remained in France and Flanders for the remainder of the war.

His Military Medal was awarded for the 6th February 1918 and was gazetted on the 16th July 1918. He is mentioned in the battalion war diary on the 27th April 1918 as having been awarded the Military Medal for meritorious work during withdrawal. Upon his discharge he was placed on Z reserve.

Edward Freer was one of 12 children born in Skegby Nott`s in 1891 his birth was registered during the third quarter.

The 1901 census shows him aged 9 years living at Woodhouse Lane, in Skegby, along with his father Arthur Freer aged 36 a coal miner who was born in Shepshed, Leicestershire.
