M.M. London Gazette 27 October 1916. Joseph Morris served in France from 11 September 1914 and won his M.M. serving with 53 Battery, R.F.A., most likely for gallant services on the Somme.
The Battery was heavily engaged at the battle of Flers-Courcelette, and again during the battles of Morval and Le Transloy. In 1917, it served at Hill 70 and Cambrai, whilst in 1918 the Battery saw action at the battle of the Lys and at St. Quentin.
Many of the men later served as part of the occupation force, based at Bruehl for Christmas 1918; sold with copied MIC and London Gazette supplement entry.
