Description
William Sharrott was born in Little Bolton, Lancashire, and attested for the 54th (West Norfolk) Regiment of Foot in 1826, aged 17. He transferred to the 55th (Westmoreland) Regiment of Foot, and was advanced Sergeant, served with them during the First China War 1842, before taking his discharge in 1845.
