L.G. 1.1.1915. ‘For gallant conduct and devotion to duty between 19th and 22nd December 1914, and subsequently for assisting in the rescue of a wounded Officer under heavy fire. The Officer was killed by a second bullet before he could be placed under cover. Extracts from H.L.I Chronicle informs us he was a native from Johnstone, Renfrewshire, an engineer before joining the Highland Light Infantry from the 4th battalion in November 1909 and later joined the 1st battalion in India 1913. Served in France from 30.11.1914, discharged to Z class 19.4.1919. Entitled to a 1914-15-star trio according to his M.I.C. but was attached to the Labour Corps at one time regimental number 450050 and returned to the Highland Light Infantry. Sold with some research including copies of the relevant war diaries. A good early award Court Mounted
