Gwalior Campaign 1843, Maharajpoor Star, James Sykes, 16th Lancers, hook fitting removed and replaced with a single loose ring on the lower arm of the star.

James first served in the Ghuznee campaign of 1839, then the Gwalior campaign of 1843.  Maharajpoor Star Sutlej Champaign Medal 1845-1846, clasps Aliwal and Sobraon 1846.  He died 28.07.1848 and his star was made into a brooch the fittings are still visible on the medal.  He went through 3 wars only to die.  He joined from England in 1830 having enlisted in Leeds.
