In company with Serjeant Thomas, James Larkin was slightly wounded at Nugger on 29 April 1858.
John or James was born in Ballynahinch and enlisted as a Boy underage at 14 years old 9.9.1851. 9.9.1852 Private (underage) 23.6.1853 Bugler, Corporal (underage) to 8.9.1855. Sergeant 1859, Colour Sergeant 13.6.1862.
Served until discharged 2.10.1876 having served 21 years, 8 days. Served Malta 2 years 10 months, Gibraltar 4 years, 8 months, East Indies 1 year. Residence to be Newcastle on Tyne, Durham.
He had been 13 times entered in the regimental defaulter’s book two of which are conventions by court marshall.
