Description
Born St. Josephs, Bury and enlisted 9.1.1893 age 19 years, 7 months, served in India 1894-98, Sudan 11.1.1898 to 8.10.1898. Occupation of Crete 56 days, Malta 285 days, South Africa 1899-1902, Q.S.A. medal and 3 clasps, K.S.A. and 2 clasps and Khedive’s Sudan clasp Khartoum. Discharged 8.9.1909 after 16 years service. Re-enlisted in the Cheshire regiment 3.9.1914 regimental number 29348 and appears to have received a war medal.
