Eli Gardner was awarded this Medal as a Wide-suspension L.S. & G.C. in January 1870 together with a gratuity of £5. He served 21 years and 63 days in the Royal Navy, 15 years and 203 days of those bring at sea.

Sold with confirmation pf Long Service from the Douglas Morris roll. Served in the Crimea, Medal and two clasps awarded and a China 1860.

Portsmouth Co number 66 and discharge Portsmouth H.Q. 15.3.1862. He was born Ropley Winchester 30.10.1829.

Drilled at 6.0 and presumably 12.0 having been fitted with a swivelling brooch mount. Rebuilt at Dixons with a replacement wide silver suspender as issued
