Born in Walsall, Staffordshire and enlisted 1812.1813 in London stating his trade as a locksmith and age 20 years.
At Waterloo he served in Lieutenant Colonels Colquitts Company, discharged 28.10.1818 on reduction of the regiment.
He would also have been present at Quatre Bras on the 16th June and at Waterloo on the 18th June when the 1st Foot Guards were present at the great orchard at the east of Hougemont.
