Joseph Tucky (Tuckie) was born in the Parish of Bearstead, near Maidstone, Kent, and enlisted for the 2nd Dragoons at Canterbury on 24th December 1804, aged 18, for unlimited service, a Bricklayer by trade.
He served in Captain Paynes troop at Waterloo and was discharged at Piershill Barracks on 4 August 1818, in consequence of having contracted a severe pectoral complaint during the campaign of 1815 in Flanders by exposure to wet and moisture.
