Description

Thomas Kisbie was born around 1775 at Barnwell, Oundle, Northampton. He enlisted 1st Dragoon Guards at Huntingdon on 24 January 1796, aged 21 years, for unlimited service.
He is recorded as wounded during the Battle of Waterloo.
He was entitled to an allowance for kit lost on the battlefield to the value of £1-17-6. Promoted to Corporal on 16th December 1815.
Discharged at Ballinrobe, Ireland, on 2 September 1821, Kisbie’s papers note that his general conduct as a Soldier was ‘good’ and that he was leaving the service on account of a reduction and chronic catarrh. He served a total of 26 years and a few days plus two years for Waterloo.
