Description

Military Medal 12th September 1916, this is thought to be from the Battle of the Somme.  NOTE: L.G. No. 36220 Davidson James Arthur, number, and Davison misspelt. Correction made in L.G. 19.2.1917, ‘26365 Davison’.

Military Medal 2nd Award Bar L.G, 19.7.1917, this award also appears to be for the tail end of the Battle of the Somme. (My thanks to Howard Williamson for sorting the dates for me.)

James was believed to have been born in 1888. Army form B.103 shows enlisting 5.9.1914. Severe wound to his cheek 17.1.1916 and invalided to England. Occupation group 4 mining engineer. He served in France from 14.4.1915 Gunner/ Bombardier. Possibly wounded a second time in 1918.
